Power Your Camping Adventure With Solar Panels

Camping in Australia is such a great way to take a break from our hectic lives away from work, but it isn’t that practical to completely disconnect. Most of us rely on our phones for GPS location information or perhaps maybe you need to be in reach in the case of an emergency. The technology to keep your devices charged has improved by leaps and bounds in recent years. Are you confident that you could select the best solar panels for camping?

Here at Outbaxcamping, we are here to make sure that you choose the best solar panel for camping suitable for you. We all know that having solar panels will be one of the best investments you'll make.

But first, we need to know how solar panels work.

Solar panels convert sunlight energy into DC electric power and can charge a rechargeable battery which supplies power to operate the appliance load. Daytime charging stores power in the battery for day and night time use.

Our folding solar panels already comes with a SMART regulator which is always looking for the type of battery connected. All you have to do is to simply connect the controller to your battery and it should already start charging. You'll notice that the lights will be constantly flashing on the regulator and you should not worry about this as it is pefectly normal.

You also shouldn't be concerned about leaving the solar panel out in the rain as it is safe for you to do that. However do not leave a battery, inverter or appliance out in the rain as there is a risk of electric shock.

The output which can be achieved from the panel is highly dependent on the UV index at the time of day and your physical location geographically.

If you want to know how many panels you need, we do advise that as a general rule, a user should establish the total Amps required to run the appliances per hour and multiply them by the expected consumption hours. The suitable solar panel would be one that can replenish the same amount of Amps used.

The required battery capacity will depend on how many Amps your appliances draw and how many hours they are run for. Therefore, your battery requirements can vary a lot and you should seek further advice before making a decision. A very typical battery capacity purchased for camping is 100 Amp hours.

These are just some basic tips and common questions that will help you choose the perfect solar panel for you.
